Install IIS8 on Windows Server 2012

This step describes how to install IIS8 on Windows Server 2012 for use with IFS Documentation.

Installing IIS8 and required services

  1. Start the Server Manager.
  2. Click Manage in the upper right corner then select Add Roles and Features from the menu that pops up.
  3. If you get a Before You Begin page, click Next.
  4. Make sure that Role-based or feature-based installation is selected and click Next.
  5. Select your server click Next.
  6. On the page Select Server Roles select WebServer (IIS), if you get a Add features that are required for Web Server (IIS) question, click Add Required Features. Click Next.
  7. On the page Select Features click Next.
  8. On the page Web Server Role click Next.
  9. On the page Select Role Services select Windows Authentication under Security if you get any Add features required for... questions, click Add Required Features. Click Next.
  10. On the page Confirm Installation Selections click Install and wait for installation to complete.
  11. On the page Installation Results make sure that nothing went wrong and then click Close.

Verify

check Verify the IIS8 Installation by starting a web browser and enter the address http://localhost/ you should be presented with something like this:

Problem:No page is being shown, and I get an error page.
Analysis:The IIS8 service may not be running.
Resolution:Start the IIS8 service from the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
