The Base Server is the "original" Foundation1 functionality area. It contains frameworks and development tools for the application core business logic tier, as well as the Windows clients. The Base Server also provides many platform services and administration tools for areas such as application security, EDI connectivity, business object replication, and event registry for proactive user notification. The Base Server also provides the important IFS Configuration Builder used to assemble all application components.
For development of application core business logic, the Base Server uses IFS Developer Studio for modeling and Oracle PL/SQL for implementation of business logic, and Oracle for data storage. The IFS Report Designer and IFS Report Builder are tools used to create layouts for reports.
The Base Server has been the core platform used by IFS components since 1997. The Base Server has since then grown and evolved together with the IFS Applications product and does today includes a broad base of tools, standards and methodology. The Base Server is based on object oriented technology and does today includes a mix of internal tools and external tools from suppliers like Oracle and Microsoft.
