The IFS Applications Installer is the tool used to set up your IFS Applications environment (storage-, client- and middle tier). The following pages describes the usage of the IFS Applications Installer in an OS independent manner, using examples and screen caps from a Windows OS. In a few places, when referring to file locations typically, the Linux or Unix user would have to take into account that paths/locations differ in those OSs compared to Windows (there are typically descriptions/examples for both Windows and Linux included, but only one screen cap).
Before you can deploy any objects into the database you must prepare the database by defining the application owner but also some other users. These users are also given necessary privileges in the database.
As the menu option Deploy Database Objects says, this is used to deploy objects like tables, views and stored procedures, into the database by executing the install.tem file. The deployment is performed in parallel processes for best performance.
When you Create your <ifs_home>, you actually configure and assembles J2EE Application servers to create instances of Extended Server, you set up client sites etc.
