Watermark feature enables to work on a report designer layout with a background. For an instance any supported type of image file can be placed as an under layer for a layout and possible to set the size and the position. When you place a watermark on a layout it will repeat in all three pages and works in flow areas as well as in static content. Following options are available when working with watermarks
Position them anywhere on a page.
Change size of the image by zooming
Change size of the image by specifying the absolute height and width
Add them to any kind of layout. (for a standard template or a custom designed layout with flow).
Stretch/Shrink and fit to page.
Place the background behind the text.
Watermarks can be added from the Page menu using the "Add Watermarks" sub menu. Once you added the watermark to a particular layout, you are allowed to Edit or Delete the watermark from the Page menu itself using "Edit Watermark" and "Delete Watermark" respectively. Following shows the dialog for Add Watermark.
Can browse for an image which you want to place as the background watermark, once the image is added a folder structure containing this image will be created, and the structure comprises of the following elements. report_designer_graphics\<module_name>\<package_name>\Watermark.gif. In this approach the watermark image to be fetched in runtime, should be stored in "Base path for Report Designer Graphics". Therefore even watermark images has the same graphics image behavior when it stored in tool's folder structure and in runtime (For graphics path settings refer Working with Images section for more details).
Once the image is selected from the dialog, any of the given options can be selected as the watermark size and the location.
Position of the image, where you want the watermark to be appeared on the report can be selected from either of the given options under Watermark location section. Also it allows you to specify the absolute position by selecting the "Specify an absolute position" button, once you selected the option the two sliders will be enabled to set the location in cm and the base position will be the upper left corner.
Size of the watermark image to be appeared on the report can change by using the three options given under "Watermark size" section.
Watermark image size will be stretched or shrink in order to fit into page size. In other words background image height and width will get the page height and the width respectively. Therefore the entire page will be covered with the background image, and in some cases resultant image will be distorted if the image dimension not matched with page dimensions. following shows the sample report PDF when Shrink/Stretch to fit page is selected. Example has taken the standard logo as the background watermark image and the image aspect ratio is not preserved in this situation.
This option keep the image aspect ratio as it is and will be able to re-size the image size in terms of percentage. 100% keep the original images and 200% doubled the size of the background image and etc. This option preserve the aspect ratio of the image. Following image shows the ifs_logo.gif in 200% and location as the "Center on page".
3. Specify a fixed size in Centimeters.
This option allows the user to specify the size of the background image in centimeters. When you select the option the two sliders will be enabled to set the size in 'cm' can specify the position as required. Following image is a report preview with ifs_logo.gif as the watermark. It has used the size option in centimeters with width = 12cm and height = 15 cm, and location as the "Upper right corner".
