File Types Used in Foundation1

The following two lists consists of the all file types used in a Foundation1 based development environment. The lists are divided into standard application file types and Foundation1 file types.

Note: This document is recognized for including obsolete content and is due for being updated. IFS/Design and Rational Rose are no longer used in development of IFS Applications 8. IFS Windows Client and IFS Client Developer are not in use.

XML Extensible Markup Language file. Used for configuration files, translation files etc.
XSL Extensible Stylesheet Language file. Used for describing transformations of XML documents.
XSD XML Schema. Defines structure of an XML document.
ZIP Compressed container file.

APX The APX file type is used for grouping several APP files that should form a complete IFS Solution.
CRE Create script for database objects
DIC Localization client run-time dictionary
IAL Information Access Layer object (view) definition
IFM IFS Message file
INS Insert script for installations
LNG Localization language file
PRF IFS/Client profile (INI)
PRJ IFS/Design project file
REC Record definition file. Used for imports of definitions into IFS Extended Server. For example, Barcode Application Files, Domain Definition Export Files, etc.
RDF IFS/Info Services report definition file
SQL General SQL-scripts (tools)
SRD Localization server runtime database file
TRS Localization translation file
